Building Update

With the success of our Annual Fall Fundraising Banquet, we have added to our downpayment coffers. We hope a larger downpayment will result in a more affordable monthly mortgage payment.

We recently engaged the services of a Licensed Commercial Building Inspector and a Licensed Code Inspector to report on all areas of both buildings showing what needs attention. We cannot make an offer on the buildings until we have a clear financial picture of what needs to be repaired/brought up to code.

The report has been finalized and sent to a few contractors for estimates. Hopefully, we will have a complete picture. Each of the repairs/renovations are in stages. We will concentrate on 308 Newman first. We want to move all Boutiques to that building. plus install a washer, dryer and utility sink. Presently staff takes home clothing to wash for our clients.

After we have that accomplished, we will begin work on 310 Newman. We will take the space previously used as our large boutique install a kitchen and large classroom for group education. Next the previous Adult Clothing Boutique will become an Ultrasound Room with an office next to it. Then the current efficiency kitchen will become a mudroom with lockers for staff. Last phase will be a refresh of all other rooms.

If anyone has services/talents, they can render, please call Mary, 989.305.6308. We will be posting jobs or items needed as we begin the different phases. It is our desire to complete our "to do" list as much as possible with the attitude of "pay as we go". We expect to pay for necessary labor as God's Word states "a laborer is worthy of his wages." Luke 10:7 and I Timothy 5:18.

We do hope to tell you in December that we have entered into a contract with the bank to purchase the buildings. The bank has offered to create a rent by month contract with us if we miss the December 31st deadline. That would be a reprieve if needed. Praise the Waymaker, He is alive and working on our behalf. To Him be all honor and glory!
