For those of you who read the 2025 Newsletter in its entirety you are aware that the parking lot was a problem. We acquired estimates. The cost is from $89,240.00 to $92,495.00, plus an additional $8,000.00 if a grant is awarded to replace the parking lot. We cannot purchase the buildings without accepting the parking lot. Half the parking lot is owned by East Tawas Senior Center and half by Huron Community Bank. Jim, the chairman of the Senior Center Board has agreed to provide gravel to fill the holes in the lot. The solution is not ideal, but it will work! We can concentrate on acquiring our property and replacing our half of the parking lot at a later date. We have approached the East Tawas City Manager Brent Barringer with the hope that the city would purchase the lot for municipal parking but to date no agreement has been made.
